THE SUN was shining when North East Worcestershire Ravens launched their England Player Development Programme on Sunday.

More than 50 youngsters attended in age groups ranging from under 15 to Little Leaguers (three to five years old).

More new players are expected to attend in the next few weeks and all children are welcome regardless of their experience.

This coming Sunday sees full junior training as well as an under 13s Midlands Merit League game, followed on Sunday, May 22 by Ravens hosting the first Midlands Development Day between 11am-1pm for U15, U13, U11 and U9 players, whilst U7s and Little Leaguers will train as normal.

Director of Rugby Jason Spafford is very happy with how the programme has started.

“It was great to see so many new faces at the junior training, with everyone being so positive about the new England programme which we are following.

“I want to say to say thank you to our newly-qualified Level 2 coaches who have got involved and have helped push the new programme forward.”

The NEW Ravens first team are away to champions Northampton Demons in Midlands Rugby League South on Saturday before the Halcyons take on Ravens Masters on Sunday (2pm) at Hopwood Park. This will be a great opportunity for any over 35s to try out the variable, fully-inclusive game.
