LOCAL REDDITCH boxer Madison Adkins will represent England at the 2022 European Youth Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria next month.
Madison, who trains at Bodyshot Boxing, became the first boxer from Redditch to win a National title in 25 years and the first female ever when she won the Junior National title last October before then claiming the Youth title in February this year in the under 70kg weight class.
And the 16-year-old’s success has seen her selected for next month’s European Championships in Bulgaria which take place between Sunday, April 10 and Friday, April 22 in Sofia.
Madison’s father Marcus said: “I hope we can push her achievements out there to inspire other young females, the female she could have been – just sat in the corner, kind of felt alone and didn’t want to join in anywhere.
“Get a friend, join a club, whether it’s football, rugby, cricket or any sport, try and get out there, join in and become part of a bigger community.”
Madison has been coached by ex-boxer Carl Walton since the age of 13 and puts in 12 hours of practice every week alongside her studies at Studley High School.
And coach Walton volunteers his spare time to help train Madison along with Bodyshot’s other boxers and travels with all of the club’s fighters up and down the country.
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean tweeted about Madison’s inspirational achievements on International Women’s Day.
Madison has won so many titles. She's National Junior Champion, National Youth Champion, and not only that, Madison has been selected to represent England in the Europeans in Bulgaria next month.

At such a young age, Madison has already achieved so much. I hope she will serve as an inspiration to women and girls in #Redditch. She has proven that, if you work hard and focus on your goals, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
