WHITE Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s Northfield and District Sunday League teams remain in the promotion hunt after a pair of comfortable victories.

Hart’s A team came away with an impressive 150-126 victory at King George V as Graham Arnott (21-13) and Mike Estell (21-17) produced early winning cards whilst Mick Perrins lost by a single shot.

The hosts were just one shot ahead on the scoreboard at halfway, but second half wins for Paul Matthews (21-13), Neil Laxton (21-14) and Kirk Wright (21-6) gave the Redditch club eight points from the match to take them to the top of the Division Two table, two points clear of Wythall A.

In Division Three, White Hart B sit in third place after a fine 163-94 home win against Colebrook B as captain Phil Hemming led the way with a 21-5 win.

And he was well-supported by winning cards from Mike Jeynes (21-10), John Meredith (21-12), Ian Humphreys (21-11), Rick Horton (21-6), Roger Broome (21-11) and Sheila Humphreys (21-18).

Elsewhere, in the Warwick and Worcs Premier League Division Four, White Hart remain at the foot of the table after a heavy 107-203 defeat at The George B with Norman Batchelor (21-14) their only winning card.

In the Yardley Wood Superleague, White  Hart A battled well at Division Two leaders Colebrook B, and deserved more than the two points they gained courtesy of wins by Gill Croft (21-19) and Laxton (21-16).

And despite both Ray Barnett and captain Kirk Wright finding themselves in winning positions, neither was able to get over the line and both were pipped 20-21.

White Hart B had three winning cards from S Humphreys (21-18), Horton (21-5) and captain Tony Buckley (21-12) but were unable to prevent Woodbourne B winning their Division Three match 140-121.

In the S.W.Birmingham and District Over 60’s League Division One, White Hart A were narrowly beaten 109-99 at Hall Green A despite only having two winning cards from Estell (21-15) and Wright (21-10).

And White Hart B were also beaten in the Heart of England Over 60’s League Division Two as they suffered a 124-83 defeat at College Arms B with Roger Broome (21-19) Hart’s only winner.

Broome led all the way in his victory whilst John Meredith was ahead at the halfway stage only for a run of 12 shots to give his opponent a 21-17 victory.

Hart captain Croft faced a tough opponent in Ken Perkins and rallied from 4-14 down to achieve a respectable 14-21 scoreline, but the visitors still await their first victory of the season.
