WHITE Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s A team stretched their lead at the top of the Heart of England League Division Two table with a convincing home win against British Oak A.
The Redditch club claimed a 149-119 success courtesy of winning cards from Paul Matthews (21-3), Cameron Cutler (21-6), Ray Barnett (21-16) and David Mahaffey (21-10).
This was despite sharing the first four winning cards as Matthews and Cutler scored easy victories to ensure Pete Davenport’s surprise defeat did not prove costly with the Redditch bowler topping the division averages.
Hart now have a 22-point lead ahead of Moseley CC at the top of the table with just six matches left to play.
White Hart B faced a tough task at Baldwin in Division Three but did at least find two winners with John Meredith (21-12) and Sheila Humphreys (21-9) triumphing in a 147-113 defeat to leave Hart bottom of the table.
In the Warwick and Worcester Premier League, White Hart suffered a 178-137 defeat against relegation rivals Hollyfields in Division Four.
Hart produced three winning cards as Norman Batchelor (21-6), Matthews (21-17) and Mahaffey (21-8) all won their ties with the Redditch club one place off the bottom.
In the Northfield and District Sunday League Division Two, White Hart A kept up their promotion challenge with a comfortable 151-95 home win over Hockley Heath.
Winning cards from Mick Perrins (21-16), Ian Humphreys (21-6), Matthews (21-0, his third win in four days) and Mike Estell (21-6) helped earn the hosts seven points from the fixture.
The club now sit third in the table with two games in hand on league leaders Hall Green.
Meanwhile, White Hart B were beaten 156-109 away at Baldwin B in Division Three with Sheila Humphreys (21-9) Hart’s only winner to continue her good form.
In the Heart Of England Over 60’s Friday morning league, White Hart A battled to a 121-99 win against Ye Olde Knowle A in Division One.
There were wins from Kirk Wright (21-14), Neil Laxton (21-16), Mick Perrins (21-9), Graham Arnott (21-18) and captain Estell (21-18).
However, White Hart B struggled on the notoriously difficult Ye Olde Knowle green in Division Two as they returned two winning cards from Neil Harrison and Tony Buckley (both 21-20) in a 124-85 defeat.
