WHITE Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s A team stretched their lead at the top of the Heart Of England Division Two table to 19 points.
The Redditch club claimed a comprehensive 141-108 victory at Black Horse A despite trailing by eight shots at the halfway stage.
Mike Estell (21-14) and Paul Matthews (21-9) were their only first half winners before Steve Jones (21-5), Cameron Cutler (21-11), David Mahaffey (21-14) and captain Kirk Wright (21-13) settled the tie.
White Hart B gained a much-needed home win against Yardley Wood Social to move three points from safety in the Division Three relegation zone.
Winning cards from Phil Hemming (21-15), Gill Croft (21-9), Ged Dooner (21-3), Sheila Humphreys (21-2) and Malcolm Bird (21-20) secured a 137-112 victory and 15 valuable points.
In the Heart of England Over 60’s Division 1, White Hart A were defeated 118-76 at Triplex A with Wright (21-20) and captain Estell (21-14) their only winners.
The B team fought valiantly in their 103-90 Division Two defeat at home to Yardley Wood Social as Ian Humphreys (21-6) and captain Croft (21-13) secured two points.
In the Northfield and District Sunday League Division Two, White Hart A suffered a narrow defeat at local rivals Wythall A despite managing three winning cards from Humphreys (21-19), Mike Hancock (21-17) and Matthews (21-12).
White Hart B beat British Oak B 144-116 in Division Two with six winners – Sheila Humphreys (21-6), Dave Kings (21-11), Hemming (21-16), Neil Harrison (21-14), John Meredith (21-19) and recent addition Jack Livingstone (21-6).
In the S.W.Birmingham and District Over 60’s League Division One, Hart’s A were edged out 11-106 at home to King George V/Police A with points gained by Mick Perrins (21-11), Estell (21-16) and captain Wright (21-18).
The B team were thrashed 121-64 at Triplex B with Croft (21-16) their solitary winner.
And White Hart hosted their annual Summer Handicap Tournament last weekend with 24 entrants taking part.
Each competitor had to play five games of 11-up in the group stages with the four group winners qualifying for the semi-finals.
And Sheila Humphreys defeated Malcolm Bird in the first semi-final before Matt Talbot booked his place in the final with a win over Phil Hemming.
The final was a close affair in the early and middle stages, before Humphreys pulled away to defeat Talbot 11-7 and take the title, continuing her history of impressive performances in club tournaments over the years.
