FECKENHAM batsmen Daniel Bloomer and Jamie Griffiths both hit half-centuries in a 125-run partnership but still ended on the losing side.

Bloomer hit 63 off 95 balls and Griffiths 53 off 82 after coming together at 68-2 against visitors Worcester in Worcestershire County League Division One.

They took the score to 192 but only Flynn Duggan (20no) reached double figures after they departed as Feckenham were dismissed for 254 in 47.1 overs to lose by 48 runs.

The hosts had faced a daunting total after Worcester, having been put into bat, blased their way to 302-7 off their 50 overs.

Opener Henry Lewis and Mohammad Adeel both scored 68 in contrasting styles – Lewis off 108 balls and Adeel off 56 deliveries – while Scott Shepherd hit a 38-ball 50.

Feckenham take on leaders Bewdley away on Saturday.

Feckenham Seconds were also on the receiving end against Worcester, going down by 48 runs in their 2nd XI Division One fixture.

Having been put into bat, Worcester quickly made Feckenham regret the decision by racing away to 261-9, led by 50 from Faisal Zaib and 55 from Faisal Khalid.

Paul Hird (2-33) and Fraser Duggan (2-85) were the most successful bowlers.

Hird continued his good work withe bat, hitting 54, and Matthew Grubb top-scored with 58, but Feckenham were all out for 213 after 49 overs.

Feckenham Thirds’ scheduled opponents Enville conceded and the Thirds will hope to get some game time on Saturday in Division Eight North away to Five Ways Old Edwardians 3rds.
