ASTWOOD BANK’S Birmingham League Division Two struggles continued as they slipped to a three-wicket defeat at Coventry & North Warwickshire on Saturday.
Opener Rob West (80) starred as the visitors reached 147-2, but only Tom Pedley and Tom Underhill with 29 apiece made other notable contributions and the visitors were restricted to 202-8 off their 55 overs.
Tom Harris removed both home openers to leave Cov & NW 2-2 but the hosts fought their way back into proceedings despite 4-48 from Dan Taylor.
At 108-5, the match hung in the balance, but Harry Horsley’s unbeaten 42 proved enough to seal victory for the hosts.
Second-bottom Bank – now 38 points below third-bottom Wombourne – host Attock on Saturday.
JACK WILLIAMS made a fine 130 to salvage a losing draw for Studley at Nether Whitacre in Warwickshire League Division One on Sunday.
Despite 3-41 from Studley captain Andy Rhodes, the home side posted a commanding 310-8 off their 50 overs, thanks largely to an unbeaten 117 from Matthew Lawrence.
Studley were staring down the barrel of defeat at 50-4 in reply, but Williams and Steve Rose (74no) put on 212 for the fifth wicket and the visitors eventually closed on 268-5.
The Washford Fields side, who remain second-bottom, host mid-table Solihull Blossomfield on Saturday.
