Bank are up and running with win

ASTWOOD BANK bagged their first win of the Worcestershire League Premier Division campaign at the second attempt as they defeated visitors Pershore by five wickets.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat but soon found themselves in trouble as Jake Price (3-31) and Joel Haslam (3-37) impressed with the new ball.

Chris Miles resisted with a fluent 41 for Pershore but, once he was dismissed by the miserly Josh Baker (2-10 off ten), the innings subsided to 118 all out inside 45 overs, with Michael Desmond taking 2-15.

Captain Tom Underhill then crashed a superb 61 off just 45 balls including three fours and seven sixes to put the hosts into a commanding position.

At 100-5, there was still some work to do, but an unbeaten 14 from Andy Williams eased the hosts home off just 30 overs to get the Bankers’ campaign into top gear.

A trip to Old Hill awaits Astwood Bank on Saturday.
