ATHLETICS - Bromsgrove and Redditch AC's Cater retains Throws Pentathlon title at British Masters Throws Pentathlon Championships

BROMSGROVE and Redditch AC athlete Sam Cater retained his Throws Pentathlon title at the British Masters Throws Pentathlon Championships (BMAF) in Oxford at Horspath Athletics and Sports Ground.

Cater ended the day with 2,200 points to take home the gold medal in the men’s event in a close battle with Northern Masters athlete Mike Martin who was second.

The BRAC athlete threw 32.02m in the hammer. 10.17m in the shot put. 29.27m in the discus, 35.40m in the javelin and 9.66m in the weight throw.

This saw him produce to seasons’ best performances over the course of the day.




And BRAC athlete Julie Wakelam also came home with a medal as she claimed silver in the women’s event with a total of 3004 points.

Wakelam threw 30.86m in the hammer, 6.44m in the shot put, 18.16m in the discus, 17.59m in the javelin and 11.51m in the weight throw to secure three seasons’ best performances along the way.


The event is open to athletes over the age of 35 and consists of five throwing events with points allocated for the distances thrown.
