Alvechurch Reserves keep title challenge alive

Redditch Editorial 30th Apr, 2018   0

ALVECHURCH Reserves maintained their title challenge by comfortably beating Lichfield City Reserves 6-0 to go top of the Midland League Reserve Division, writes Lewis Glennon.

With rivals Gresley Reserves’ game off and Coton Green Reserves losing to Bromsgrove Sporting Reserves, Oliver Hartill’s side took advantage and went top of the table with three goals in each half.

Alvechurch will hope to keep up the pressure when they entertain Knowle at Illey Lane on Tuesday (7pm), while Gresley entertain Coton Green.

Daniel Priest’s first goal for Church was followed by braces from Dean Fisher and Luke Oakley, as well as a goal from Jevaughni Robinson, to seal an easy win on Saturday.

Alvechurch dominated from the start and soon took the lead through Priest, who fired in from 25 yards. They then quickly doubled their lead through a Fisher penalty after he was fouled by Lichfield defender Callum Spittle.

Just before half-time Luke Oakley got the third after good work by Daniel Lawrence.

The second half told the same story with Hartill’s side completely dominating. Oakley grabbed his second goal before two late goals from Fisher and Robinson added gloss to the scoreline.
