Alcester A team maintain their momentum

STER Bowling Club’s A team continued their winning run of form in the South West Birmingham Over 60s League by beating Woodbourne B 5-1 in their return fixture.

John Slater (21-1), Carole Slater (21-2), Ken Harvey (21-8), Jean Bannister (21-11) and Renny Bannister (21-13) were the winners for Alcester.

The B team unfortunately lost their match against Woodlands and only produced two winning games – Red Masterson (21-18) and John Williamson (21-16).

In the Yardley Wood League the A team were at home to Baldwin B and were the victors. Winning games came from Ken Harvey (21-5), John Slater (21-7), Jean Bannister (21-10), Dave Hovell (21-15) and Carole Slater (21-19).




The B team were away on Maggies’ green and unfortunately came away with just three winners – Val McDermott (21-9), Red Masterson (21-17) and Margaret D’Elia (21-19).

Last Thursday night in the Heart of England League the A team visited Stoke Prior A and they came away with just one winning card from John Slater (21-18).


The B team hosted Stoke Prior B and won the match by two shots and had three winning games from Gill Evans (21-13), Margaret D’Elia (21-11) and Val McDermott (21-8) as they secured 13 points to the visitors’ five.

Last Friday in the Heart of England Over 60s League the A team hosted Black Horse A and they produced a winning match.

The winners were John Slater (21-9), Margaret D’Elia (21-18), Jean Bannister (21-18) and Ken Harvey (21-20) and the two losing games were 21-20 scorelines in an overall 14 points to two success.

The B team visited Henley B and came away with just two winners – Val McDermott (21-5) and Terry Scott (21-12).
