ALCESTER 2nds ran out winners in a high-scoring contest against their neighbours on Saturday.

Both sides included players from other clubs who would otherwise have been without a game, with the home squad in particular bolstered by several from Woodrush 2nds.

Alcester chairman Jeff Williams refereed part of the game until he was replaced by a young society official who had two other appointments cancelled in the afternoon and did a small tour of Warwickshire until he found a game to officiate, not that Williams was complaining about his late arrival!

Amongst the home scorers were two tries apiece for Matt Ashby and Ollie Morrison, with Ashby adding four conversions and unlikely kicker, front rower Anthony Cauvin, contributing one.

ALCESTER Colts continued their recent good form to record their eighth win from 12 outings this season with arguably their best performance of the campaign so far and a clinical dismantling of Tamworth Colts on a beautiful morning in Staffordshire.

Alcester had to wait until midway through the first half for their first score through Charlie Sharp before they scored regularly following that, particularly in the second half, with the game actually ending early with Alcester totally dominant by then.

Top scorer Cian Allen scored a hat-trick of tries, with both Cavan Farrow and James Gionis crossing for two each and Will Kershaw also touching down.

Harry Adams made four conversions and Victor Lazarov added one to round off a fine team performance in which Aden Rawlings was awarded the man of the match accolade by the Alcester coaching team.
