Academy calls for a helping hand

REDDITCH Boxing Academy continues to thrive and as a result is looking for further help to continue its fine work in the community.

The academy is predominantly run by volunteers and is growing steadily and now boasts more than 50 participants a day.

However, whilst the academy is progressing, it still very much relies on the support from the community and local businesses as a fantastic cause which is keeping many young people off the streets and occupied with positive reinforcement.

Director Sarah Lee is delighted with how things are progressing and is grateful for the help already received.

She said: “The academy promotes health and well-being, fitness and community values.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to Carl Dooley Roofing Limited for making a generous donation to support the club. Carl’s two young children both participate in the kids class ran by volunteer and coach Matthew Rogers.

“The boys enjoy fun and games whilst learning the noble art of boxing and keeping fit and healthy and both have a promising future.

“Thanks to Carl’s donation, all of the volunteers and staff have now got new uniform, featuring the academy’s new logo, helping us look professional for the future ahead.”

The academy would also like to say thanks for the ongoing support of Oakland International Ltd, in particular Dean Attwell and Pete Vaughan for their generous financial and business support.

Sarah added: “The changes that have taken place since Oakland came on board are amazing. I feel their support has really helped me realign the vision and reignited my passion for the work that is ahead of us.

“The academy will impact on more than just one community, offering health and well-being to as many people as possible, moving the community interest company towards its full vision and serving the people far and wide.”

RBA runs kids classes and a development squad for anyone looking to learn basic boxing, whilst a boxing squad is offered for those who want to compete, along with kickboxing, Thai boxing, MMA, inclusive Zumba, inclusive boxercise and other fitness classes.
