Youngsters involved in anti-social behaviour encouraged to take up boxing

Redditch Editorial 31st Aug, 2020   0

YOUNGSTERS involved in anti-social behaviour are being encouraged to attend boxing lessons at Phoenix Works on Windsor Road.

They will be offered free training lessons by Redditch Self-Defence Association which is funded by West Mercia Police.

The project, which has been running for months, sees vulnerable teenagers offered one-to-one support and advice.

Its aim is to help young people, aged between 14-19, who are at risk of going down the wrong path.

A spokesperson for Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Teams said: “We have found that boxing is a great intervention tool and gives young people a focus for their energy.

“If you know a young person who may benefit from this scheme then please pass on our contact details.”

Pete Martin, who runs the sessions, can be contacted on 07500693452 for more information.
