RESIDENTS have the chance to turn cuddly toys into cash for a charity raising awareness of domestic violence.

As part of the White Ribbon Campaign’s annual 16 Days Of Action, a winter fête will be held at the Redi Centre on Saturday, November 22, from 1pm to 3pm.

The event will raise money for Victim Support, with information and advice on offer to residents as well as toys, children’s books and craft stalls, a YMCA stall, a clothes swap shop, raffle, tombola and refreshments.

A talk will also be given by Pat Witherspoon, Redditch Mayor and a survivor of domestic violence, about her personal experiences as well as her work with others affected.

Coun Rebecca Blake, one of the organisers, said: “We cannot accept that one in four women and one in six men will experience domestic abuse. Victims and perpetrators need to know it is unacceptable and there are people and organisations who can help them break the cycle.”

Donations can be made on November 21 at the Redi Centre between 10am and 6pm and Victim Support from 10.30am to 3.30pm, or call 07709 249799 to arrange donation to the Redi Centre at an different time. E-mail [email protected] for more information.
