THE confident smile of Shanaya Ebanks Henry won over the hearts of all our judges to clinch the top spot in the Redditch Standard Baby of the Year 19 months to three years category.
Young Harry Pace came a very close second, so close in fact that he only lost out by a whisker.
There’s no doubt Redditch is full of beautiful babies and toddlers as this year has proved the toughest yet to choose winners, runners up and all those who made the shortlist.
Or perhaps it was because, with a new judging panel in place, they were just knocked out by all our happy smiling youngsters.
Ross Crawford, editor of the Redditch Standard said: “For both age groups this has been our best year yet.
“I’d like to thank all the mums and dads, carers and grandparents who entered the competition, they have been fantastic and so have all the youngsters who were featured both in the Redditch Standard and on our website at www.redditchstandard.co.uk.
“Once again thousands of votes were cast and in the end it was incredibly difficult for our judges to choose a winner.
“Our thanks go to them too and our congratulations to Shanaya, and runner-up Harry and all who entered.”
The competition was run in conjunction with professional portrait photographer Andrea Powell who once again produced some stunning pictures of the entrants.
First prize is a large canvas portrait of the winning baby plus a special gift, together worth £200, while the runner up will also receive a canvas portrait and a special gift together worth £100.
