VOLUNTEERS who help provide local parenting and family support services were the guests of honour at an afternoon tea celebrating their hard work.
A hearty thank you joined tea and cake on the menu as staff of the Bromsgrove and Redditch Parenting and Family Support Service paid tribute to all their volunteers, at the Holly Trees Centre in Redditch during Volunteers Week.
They welcomed volunteers from breastfeeding group Breast Buddies, parental group Peer Supporters, and the Stay and Play activity sessions in a celebration of their work and achievements.
Volunteer co-ordinator Ali Wakeman said: “Our volunteers help us provide vital services in the community and we wanted to thank them all for their dedication and to recognise their contribution to the Parenting and Family Support Service.
“Our organisation is enhanced by their valuable work.”
There are three major kinds of voluntary work across the Parenting and Family Support Service, which is a shared service between Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough councils commissioned by the county council.
Peer Supporters work alongside staff to help deliver courses and informal support to families; Breast Buddies help support mums at breastfeeding groups; and Stay and Play volunteers get involved in the activities, crafts, story-telling, and prepare snacks.
