Volunteers need to keep Batchley beautiful

Redditch Editorial 15th May, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

KEEPING Batchley beautiful is the aim of a new project which needs volunteers of all ages.

The first events run by Growing Batchley, led by Batchley Support Group, are aimed at getting children involved and include apple juicing and a sunflower growing competition.

They will run from 5pm to 6.30pm for those under 13 and 7pm to 9.30pm for those 13 and over at the group’s office on Salters Lane on Thursday, May 22.

Community gardener Alistair Waugh said: “We want to get children involved in keeping Batchley beautiful. They have plenty of energy and ideas, it’ll be great to be out in the sunshine this summer doing fun healthy gardening.”

BSG will also be setting up a volunteer group to help brighten up the area and support older and disabled residents to maintain their gardens.
