A CONTRACTOR has been appointed to build a new £6million school and nursery in Redditch.
Holyoakes Field First School and Nursery in Bridge Street will transfer from its existing site to the new, purpose-built school, which will accommodate a 26-place nursery, a reception class and a class for each of years one to four.
The site is next to a residential area currently under development in Brockhill.
Nottingham-based J Tomlinson will build the new 2,000m2 timber-framed, single storey, green and zinc roofed new first school, which aims to achieve a environmental BREEAM sustainability rating of ‘very good’.
Its managing director Darroch Baker said: “The existing Holyoakes Field First School and Nursery suffers multiple issues and a very limited site area which is unsuitable for expansion.
“This new building will create a purpose-built, environmentally friendly school for young people, along with outside areas including a hard play area and a netball court.
“We look forward to working closely with Worcestershire County Council and the wider project team as we work to deliver a highly modern and sustainable school for pupils and staff.”
