A BAND has paid tribute to its violin player who died shortly after they performed the first set of ‘Biggefest 2019’, held at Tardebigge Pub.

Acoustic quartet band ‘fAITH’ sent out a heartfelt message on Facebook this morning after Keith Jones, 69, died of a cardiac arrest yesterday afternoon (September 15).

It said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Keith, leader of the band, fiddle virtuoso, multi-talented multi-instrumentalist and a heart of solid gold.

“We are devastated at the news and send our condolences to Liz, his wife, his family and friends.

“You will be dearly missed, Keith.”

The band had just finished the opening set of Biggefest, at around 1pm, when Keith noticed a pain in his chest.

An ambulance arrived at the pub on Hewell Lane, before rushing Keith to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he later died.

Organiser of Biggefest, Clive Fokes, of Courtyard Music, said: “Our thoughts are with Keith’s family right now, the band played so well and opened the show to a great crowd.

“We held a minute silence for him.”

Keith had a musical background which stemmed over 45 years, supporting diverse acts such as ‘Fairport Convention’, Jasper Carrot, Irish cult band ‘Horslips’ and heavy rockers ‘UFO’.
