THE INVESTIGATION into what started the fire at Kev’s Coaches, near Lydiate Ash in Bromsgrove is well under way.

Fire Scene Investigators have worked tirelessly all day, examining the scene to determine the ‘origin and cause’.

Investigators said the investigation would support the business and hopefully help it recover from the devastating blaze which saw Kev’s Coaches lose 14 vehicles from its fleet.

After breaking out at 10pm last night, the flames ripped through the site.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue crews from Bromsgrove, Redditch, Wyre Forest and Kidderminster were joined by West Midlands Fire crews from Northfield, Kings Norton and Woodgate.

Specialist engines from Droitwich, Worcester and Evesham and a water carrier from Leominster were also sent to the scene. The video below shows the extent of the fire.

One crew has maintained its presence throughout the day, damping down and ensuring the blaze does not reignite and supporting the fire investigators as they try to unpick the scene and determine what exactly happened.

Kev Nind, who owns the business, said on Twitter: “Just wish to thank both West Midlands and Hereford and Worcester fire service for their professionalism in dealing with our very large and serious fire this evening.”

Fortunately there were no reported casualties.

Bus services, including the 19 (Maypole to Frankley via Northfield and Longbridge), 38 (Northfield to Selly Oak via Cotteridge), 39 (Longbridge to Worlds End via Northfield), 39A (Woodgate Valley to Longbridge via Northfield) and 42 (Rubery, Hollymoor Way, to West Heath) have been unable to run today and will not be running on Monday.
