TSB hands over bumper cheque to boost funds at Redditch charity

CUSTOMERS from Redditch’s TSB bank have helped raise £600 for local charity Where Next, writes Sophie Wheeler.

The cheque was presented to retiring general manager, Graham Clark, and new chief executive, Mathew Gilbert accompanied by some members of the charity.

Where Next helps people with learning difficulties gain valuable work experience and training by supporting them in jobs such as working at their Easemore Road garden centre.

The Unicorn Hill branch of the TSB is supporting the charity for the second year in a row and has raised £600 in the last few months by selling plants and samosas at Redditch market and home-made cakes in the branch to customers.

Manager Karen Baxter said: “We’ve raised £600 so far but have another 12 months to go and want to make it £1,000.

“It is very much a community partnership with Where Next – we have built up a great relationship and it’s a great charity for us to support.”

Mr Clark said: “I am very proud of the association and the work it does but am equally proud of all the support we get from businesses in Redditch.”

Mr Gilbert said: “In this day and age you have to get support from lots of different locals. It is not just support, it’s being part of the community particularly for Where Next as we wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do.”

The branch, which plans to hold a bring-and-buy sale in the coming months, thanked account holders for their support.
