STUDENTS at St Augustine’s Catholic High School came together on Friday (November 10) for a Remembrance Service to for all the men and women who have given their lives for their country, in World War One and in conflicts since.

Students from St Bede’s Middle School and Our Lady Mount Carmel Primary Schools also took part in the service.

The schools were joined by representatives of the Astwood Bank Royal British Legion; Rev. Mike Spencer (Chairman); Ron Girdon (President), Brain Parkinson; Dave Smith (Standard bearer).

With their heads bowed, Head of School Mr O’Connor welcomed the guests and the service came to a close as the names of those who sacrificed their lives were honoured before the famous Kohima Epitaph and the Last Post rang out across the school, signalling a minutes silence.
