ALMOST 200,000 tonnes of residual household waste has been converted into electricity at the county’s EnviRecover facility in its first 12 months of full operation.
Worcestershire County Council and Herefordshire Council’s flagship energy-from-waste facility, operated by Severn Waste Services, became fully operational in March 2017.
Since then there has been a positive impact on reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill from the two counties.
With a predicted increase in the demand for waste disposal services over the next five years, in part due to the significant number of new homes planned across the county, the ability to manage demand efficiently and cost-effectively is crucial to sustaining the quality of this environment.
