A VANDAL has been caught on CCTV viciously punching the window of a cafe in Redditch.

A man, believed to be 20-something, was seen punching the window of Three Cooks Cafe, based on Evesham Walk, at 3.12am this morning (Friday, March 15).

This is the fourth time within the space of a year that Three Cooks has had its windows destroyed by people leaving nearby venues.

In the footage the man can be seen punching the front door of the cafe four times, shattering it from top to bottom.

The thug appeared to be acting out of anger after being assaulted by two girls, of similar age, moments before.

The man, along with his three friends, can then be seen walking away from the area, past Pepe’s Piri Piri restaurant and towards Birmingham Road.

Three Cooks owner Tim Cangaj said: “I can’t believe I’m having this conversation again.

“Because of the incidents last year, I arrive every morning to open up the cafe and – without fail – I think to myself ‘will there be another broken window today?’

“It comes out of my own pocket every single time and it’s not cheap to replace.

“I want my customers to have a nice place to eat and drink.

“I’m getting so fed up of this.”

Mr Cangaj installed several CCTV cameras around his cafe following similar incidents last year.

He also had a meeting with MP Rachel Maclean and Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion to see if anything could be done.

Together they decided the best way to combat vandalism would be to increase the number of officers in the area, which appeared to work for a while.

Police Constable Andy Freeman said: “We are investigaitng this matter and we will seize CCTV footage from various sources around the area.

“In the meantime if anyone has any information or can identify the man involved please contact us as soon as possible.”

To do so, call 101 and quote crime reference number 074/s/150319.
