UNSIGNED band The Verse have been making a buzz on social media recently and are close to releasing their new single.

The four-piece indie band, which includes Redditch’s Alex Cottom on lead guitar, have been touring around the UK and have a busy summer ahead.

The rest of the band, aged between 17-19, is made up of lead singer Jack Harrison, Dean Pinnegar on bass and Jack Taplin on drums.

On the release of the new single ‘Thick as Thieves’, Alex said: “I’m so excited for the release.

“We had enough songs to fill two albums but we decided this was the most up-beat melody to introduce ourselves to the music world.”

The Verse have already toured London, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and hope to do a local gig close to Redditch in the near future.

Alex said: “It was crazy to see the crowd singing back songs which haven’t even been released yet.

“When we were touring some of the fans had made signs with our faces on. Seeing things like that really mean a lot to us.”

When asked if the band is likely to be signed in the future, Alex said: “Really we’re just taking it one step at a time. At the minute we are fully-functional without a label or a manager so we are in no rush at all.

“We’re just enjoying every moment.”

The single will be released on Spotify, iTunes and Google Play Music on June 1 and you can find the band by using @theverseoff on Twitter.
