The bingo way to get out and about and have fun in Church Hill

AT the local elections it was eyes down for a recount when Councillor Mike Rouse (Con) won his Church Hill seat by a single vote, but he swapped the tension of the count at the Abbey Stadium for the bingo hall when he attended the Church Hill Bingo Club last week.

The club is run by local community stalwarts Maria and Mark Tomes who also run the local ‘Young at Heart’ group and chair the community PACT (Police and Communities Together) meetings.

“It was great to play a bit of bingo, especially as I was virtually raised in working men’s clubs in the late 1980s – it brought back many happy memories,” said Coun Rouse.

“These clubs are a great way for residents to get out of the house, make friends, have fun and keep their grey matter ticking over.”

The club is based at Willow Trees, a short walk from the bus stop at Church Hill centre.

The club runs every Wednesday from 1pm at Willow Trees Community Centre in Church Hill.
