ACROSS Redditch, Alcester and Studley people will be holding their own VE Day celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the ending of the Second World War in Europe.
Families like the Newmans from Alcester, above, will be rolling back the years, waving the Union Jack and maybe popping a cork or two of English sparkling wine to mark the occasion – and we’d love you to tell us how to celebrated the big day.
In the original celebration plans bells were due to ring out at 7pm on Friday, May 8 from all the towers in towns and villages across the country.
That of course can’t happen now as the bellringers can’t get together to play due to the social distancing restrictions of coronavirus.
Luckily however you can still hear the peal of bells as planned thanks to Richard Spray who has recorded the bells of St Mary’s C of E Church in Studley ringing out for people to enjoy.
