CHARITY Acts of Kindness were busy collecting donated food for Redditch Foodbank on Thursday, November 29 and Saturday, December 1.

Redditch Standard reporter Harry Leach joined a team of volunteers for an exciting afternoon of fundraising at Tesco Extra on Coldfield Drive.

Local people were extremely generous throughout the day as more than 2.2 tonnes of food was donated.

Foodbank project manager Laura Kyte said: “Thanks to everyone who helped out.

“Your time, energy and enthusiasm went towards this big amount which was one of our most successful collections yet.

“And thanks to Tesco for allowing us to fundraise inside the store.”

Cash donations were also being accepted on the day but the total is yet to be counted.

Chair of Acts of Kindness Rev Robin baker said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated at Tesco’s on Thursday and Saturday.

“I would also like to thank those individuals and businesses who support Acts of Kindness and volunteer for us.

“Without your help we would not be able to to help and support those people in our town who are in need.”
