THE Team Scream and Run annual Halloween horror walk through has raised an amazing £1,931.61 for Young Lives vs Cancer.

Held in Morrisons car park on Saturday and Sunday October 30-31, the big hearted supermarket match funded that amount bringing the total raised to £3,863.22.

Owner Brian Bowers said “I cannot believe it, we were hoping for a good turn our since Redditch doesn’t ever do events like this, but what actually happened has blown us away.

“I started this back in 2012 with a little walk way at my home in Winyates.

“Each year it has just gotten bigger and bigger and I could never have imagined it to become what it is.

“I am extremely proud of my team they all worked incredibly hard.”

On the two nights Morrisons, which nationally backs the charity Young Lives vs Cancer, had its car park transformed into a tunnelled maze of horror.

The evenings – running from 6pm to 9pm, featured some 35 supporters with many dressed to spread terror,

The event was totally free of charge with no tickets and the big hearted people of Redditch responded with queues of lining up ready to be scared witless and make donations to the good cause.

Vanessa Browne, event organiser said: “Honestly, cannot thank everybody enough.

“Experiences like this have never happened in Redditch before and we are really hoping that we can continue this for future years,

“Thanks to Morrisons we managed to hold the event this year otherwise we’d have had nowhere to hold anything this big.

“Our dreams are to go bigger and do this regularly each year however for that to happen we need sponsorship or the council events team to come on board, and thanks to the success this year we are really hoping that may be a possibility.”

No profits were made, all the actors were volunteers and everything made was donated to the charity. One fan, Saba Imran, said: “Absolutely awesome experience. Massive horror fan but only on the TV where they can’t get you.

“It was just fantastic even though I was petrified, I had an absolute blast. Can’t wait for next year.”

Lacey Grant added: “Absolutely amazing experience. Even when the queue was long it was worth every second.

“Seeing the actors walking around and taking pictures with them and then the maze itself was awesome.”

Rachel Price said: “This was amazing! Love horror films and thought I’d breeze through. I was wrong.

“I held onto my other half for dear life. The actors were amazing and the walk through was so good and scary! A big well done to everyone.”
