MEMBERS of Australian-based charity – ‘Many Miles for Mary’ – ran through Redditch on Tuesday (July 24) to raise awareness for Dementia on their journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG.
The charity was set up by Jamie Milne, an ultra-endurance athlete, in memory of his grandmother who lost her battle to early-onset Dementia almost 10 years ago.
Jamie was very close to Mary and so he dediced to run extreme solo distances to raise money and awareness for various dementia charities.
He has been doing it for the past nine years.
To celebrate almost 10 years since the charity was established, the team got together for the long-distance run.
Jamie said: “The disease of forgetfulness stole the one person in the world who I loved the most.
“This journey will ensure I will never, ever forget her.”
A team of eight are currently running from England to Scotland which altogether will total 1400km in 12 days.
