A TAXI driver was taken to hospital after being robbed by a group of passengers.

The 40-year-old had to be treated at the Alexandra Hospital following the attack near Papa Johns on Church Green West on Saturday, May 16.

He was driving his white Fiat Scudo at about 12.45am when he stopped by the pizza take-away to drop off five passengers.

One of the men went to pay him but snatched his money bag and attacked him.

The driver got out of his taxi to get the bag back and a scuffle broke out and the men ran off with his takings.

All the men were white and in their late teens to early twenties.

Anyone with any information should call West Mercia Police on 101.
