Taking Steps to bring show to town

A POP star turned actress is making her way to Redditch’s Palace Theatre to star in a new comedy inspired by the popularity of the 50 Shades of Grey book.

Faye Tozer, who was one fifth of hit band Steps, is appearing in 69 Shades of Black at the Alcester Street venue on Thursday, April 16 as part of a major nationwide tour of the production.

The riotous script focuses on William Shight, whose most interesting trait has always been his snigger inducing name. But since landing his dream job at one of the country’s top advertising agencies, things have taken a turn for the shocking.

Christina Black – played by Tozer – is the company director and has taken a shine to ‘William’ and attempts to seduce him with an indecent proposal. Overwhelmed by the attention and without friends or family to turn to, he decides to seek the advice of the only two men in his life he can trust, the hilariously argumentative Gabriel and Gideon – his conscience.

William tries in vain to resist but in the end relents and signs a 69 page contract, the one Christina intends to use to make a man out of him.

The 20 pages of ‘don’t’ and 49 pages of ‘do whatever the hell I want’ will lead William on the hilariously painful journey of his lifetime.

Tickets cost £22 or £20 for discounts and are available online at www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk or from the box office on 01527 65203.
