A ‘SUPERHERO Funday’ where children and adults dressed up in their favourite costumes, managed to raise more than £2500 to aid Syrian families.
The event took place on Sunday July 15 between 12pm and 5pm at the Abbeydale Community Club.
From Spiderman to Wonder-Woman to Batman, everyone was dressed to impress.
All of the money raised from the event is going towards organiser Nazia Parveen’s trip to Turkey.
She will be hand-packing and delivering food parcels to Syrian families in camps in Reyhanli.
“The families which I will visit in the camps have fled from horrible wars and I just want to help in anyway I can.
“I have set up a JustGiving page too so that I can raise money for food packages.”
The cost of a food package is £23 and that will feed a family for one month.
The event raised money through the various food stalls, drinks, toy and artwork which was for sale.
There was also a raffle and an auction.
“It was an amazing day and I can’t wait to help in Turkey.
