Studley family raise hundreds for local care homes

A FAMILY from Studley have raised £350 for two local care homes, they are also making gift bags for every resident in the care homes.

Stephany Martin’s daughters lost their great-grandmother, Marg Hobbs also known as Nanny Smokey earlier this year, she stayed in Four Acres care home in Studley briefly before her passing.

After her death Dottie aged 5 and Belle aged 8 decided to raise money for the care home to give back as a thank you for the care their grandmother received.

They also decided to raise money for The Brambles in Redditch.

Stephany said: “They packed each bag themselves with donations from family, friends and the community of Studley and Redditch.

“They held a raffle to raise money to buy treats for the bags and drawn the raffle all by themselves on Facebook via livestream.

“They brought bags, treats, socks and small gifts and decorated each bag themselves, they were over the moon with a small gift from four acres to say thank you.”

“The girls have been so kind coming up with this idea, they said they wanted to do something nice for their Nans friends.”

Stephany and her daughters delivered the gift bags to the residents of Four Acres care home over the weekend and were overwhelmed at the response.

Bell said: “We made the bags for Nanny Smokey and all the old people that won’t get a lot of presents for Christmas, and we made sure to put lots of chocolate oranges in because they were her favourite.

“We miss her lots and lots and we hope her friends in there won’t be too sad now.”
