Students and teaching team praised as Saints produce top marks again

STUDENTS at Saint Augustine’s Catholic High School have once again achieved a fantastic set of A Level results.

In all 99 per cent of students passed three or more A-levels with a significant proportion against national figures achieving A*-C grades.

Highlights include:

Maths – 94 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C




English Literature – 86 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C

History – 83 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C


Physics – 100 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C

Music – 100 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C

Media – 84 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C

Theology 82 per cent of students achieving grade A*-C

Vocational subjects enjoyed equal success with the following subjects obtaining Distinction/Distinction*: Applied Science 75 per cent; Art and Design 70 per cent; Business 65 per cent; Information Technology 71 per cent; Health and Social 76 per cent; Sport 75 per cent; Performing Arts 100 per cent.

Notable successes include Oliver Sabin – Chemistry A*, Mathematics A*, Further Mathematics A* and Physics A*; James Poli – History A*, Economics A and Theology A; Grace Parsons – Art and Design Distinction *, Theology A and Sociology A; James Barr – Chemistry A, Mathematics A and Physics A.

Gerald O’Connor, Head of School, said: “In an academic backdrop of increasing challenge, I am yet again delighted that our students have developed the determination, resilience and skills necessary to achieve these results.

“They are now in an excellent position to embark on the next stage of their careers.

“It should be noted that behind these excellent figures are true stories of endeavour on the part of the students.

“A huge thank you must go out to the teaching staff and the pastoral team who skilfully guided them at times of need and to parents and carers for their unrelenting support. I look forward to hearing of our students’ future successes.”
