Still time to nominate for Pride of Redditch

THE JUDGES are ready to run the rule over this year’s Pride of Redditch entries but there is still time to make your nomination.

Retired police inspector Ian Joseph, entrepreneur Affy Qadeer and Corinne Seabridge, territorial envoy for Redditch Salvation Army, have been chosen as the independent panel responsible for picking the winners ahead of this year’s event on Friday, December 12 at South Redditch Social Club.

So far more than 40 individuals, groups and businesses have been nominated as the pride of the town. But if there is someone you think is worthy of recognition then time is running out to put them forward with the closing date for entries just a week away.

Rebecca Blake, borough councillor and Labour’s Parliamentary spokeswoman for Redditch, is once again running the annual celebration sponsored by the Redditch and Alcester Standard.

She said: “We’ve already received some wonderfully inspiring stories but we still want to hear more. I know there is so much good work being carried out in Redditch that goes unrecognised and now is your chance to put that right by nominating them as the pride of our town.”

Mr Qadeer, who was also on last year’s judging panel, added: “It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be asked to be involved in the Pride of Redditch awards again. Everyone who was nominated last year deserved a medal for what they do and it was a tough task to choose the winners. I’m sure this year will be just as difficult.”

Nominations for businesses, individuals or groups can be made by filling in the form on this page and posting it to Pride of Redditch Awards, Redditch Standard, Webb House, Church Green East, B98 8BP or by email to [email protected] with the name of the person nominated, the reason for nominating them and your contact details, including a daytime telephone number.

Closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday, November 14.

Businesses interested in providing additional sponsorship for this year’s awards should also contact Ms Blake on the contact details above.
