A HOME care company which looks after elderly clients in Redditch and Bromsgrove is delivering its first ‘love your food’ workshop as part of its ‘Stay Nourished’ campaign.
The first community workshop is at 10.30am, on October 12 at Reddishare, Church Hill Community Centre, Loxley Close, Redditch, B98 9LJ.
The company launched the workshops after conducting a survey which revealed nutrition was the No1 concern for older people and their families.
This found that 50 per cent of over-75s eat less food than they used to and that almost one-in-five haven’t eaten a meal with anyone for three months or longer, saying they have less desire to eat or don’t feel hungry when they are eating alone.
Additionally, a fifth of over-75s are struggling to cook their own food and more than a third admit regularly skipping meals.
The workshop aims to help educate people about the importance of nutrition, how to spot malnutrition and dispel some of the misconceptions around diet and appetite for our older generations.
