Speculators may land a cash return in prize game

A CHANCE to be named Redditch Monopoly champion and win £200 is on offer as part of Redditch’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Residents are being challenged to take part in a speed version of the game specially devised for the occasion.

Players will have 30 minutes to trade their way around the Redditch board but without many of the restrictions of the traditional version of Monopoly.

The one who can earn the most in cash and property at the end of the game wins their own copy of Redditch Monopoly, created by Redditch Town Centre Partnership for the 50th anniversary of the new town, with the overall winner taking the title and the cash prize.

The event takes place on Monopoly Monday, July 28 from 11am in Worcester Square in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. It forms part of the week long So Redditch Festival which is the centrepiece of this year’s celebrations.

Alexa Williams, town centre co-ordinator, said: “Many of us love a game of Monopoly but just don’t have the time. With our special speed version you could be on your way to winning a fantastic prize in just minutes.

“So whether you are a budding property tycoon or just a fan of the game why not have a go and see if you could be Redditch’s Monopoly champion?”

To register to play visit the customer service desk in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, email [email protected] with Monopoly in the subject box or via the centre’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Volunteers are also needed to act as bankers to help run the games. Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Kingfisher Centre by the methods above.

The Redditch version of Monopoly is still on sale in Heaphys Menswear on Church Green East or at the Kingfisher Centre customer service desk.
