Special Christmas Tea Dance at Studley Village Hall gets toes tapping

Redditch Editorial 18th Dec, 2018   0

TOES were tapping and people dancing at a special Christmas Tea Dance at Studley Village Hall.

Organised by a loyal team of volunteers headed by Julie Summers, more than 100 senior citizens enjoyed both the music of organist John Parker and tasty things to eat.

“The numbers were unbelievable,” said Julie.

“It just goes to show the need is out there to provide a place where people can go out and have a happy jolly time for a couple of hours in good company with some singing and dancing.”

Julie aims to organise three to four tea dances a year and this one was especially important as not only was Santa Claus there but it also marked the 96th birthday of oldest participant Ken Beech.

“We managed to buy a little Christmas present for everyone and there was also a little tot of sherry,” said Julie.
