A DRIVING instructor has called on Morrisons to do some ‘levelling up’ after he noticed the petrol at the supermarket chain’s Bromsgrove store was 11p per litre more expensive than the one in Redditch.
Ian Webley has made the call with Bromsgrove motorists being charged 146.9 per litre for their fuel while those in Redditch only have to pay 135.7.
Rubery’s Morrisons is in between the two at 140.9.
Mr Webley told the Standard: “I’ve emailed Morrisons to raise this and the reply was quite blunt.
“Basically they aren’t interested in people moaning; take it or leave it.
“Their excuse is competitors and logistics etc. Considering the two stores are separated basically by a dual carriageway and the A38, approximately eight or nine miles, this excuse seems very feeble.
“I think it’s about time the Bromsgrove petrol stations came into line with the recent reductions in prices – they’ve kept theirs high purely to make more profit.
“I am a Redditch resident so am fortunate but driving through Bromsgrove it frustrates me to see how they are ripping people off.”
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We aim to provide the best price locally and this can mean occasionally that price differences between different areas open up.
“We continually review our prices and will look to reduce this difference as soon as we can.”
Our research showed petrol in Redditch ranged from 134.7 to 143.9 whereas Bromsgrove’s was between 144.4 and 146.9.
