THE McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant at Moons Moat temporarily closed last night, Tuesday, June 2, as staff dealt with a huge backlog of orders.
The American fast food giant started opening its 924 restaurants from yesterday, including the two drive-thrus in Redditch.
Queues of traffic quickly formed at both the Oakenshaw branch and the one at Moons Moat with police helping to direct traffic to keep the roads as clear as possible.
At Moons Moat there were reports of cars queuing down the Coventry Highway towards the A435.
A spokesperson at the restaurant, on Black Soils Road, said they were working with the police.
She said: “The police contacted us and last night we said we would close to deal with orders coming in and re-open later.
“We are working with the police over the next few days to deal with any issues.”
McDonald’s has opened with a reduced menu with no breakfasts, wraps or milkshakes and customers are being asked to limit their spending to £25 and make contactless payments.
