Smash on M42 motorway sparks police appeal for witnesses

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury collision on the M42 on Friday evening, March 9.

At approximately 8.15pm, an Audi car was in collision with the central reservation on the M42 westbound between junctions 2 and 1, between Alvechurch and Bromsgrove.

A driver in a Ford Focus stopped to assist on the hard shoulder, and a BMW then collided with the driver of the Focus.

The driver of the Focus, a man in his twenties, sustained serious injuries which required surgery. He is currently in hospital.




The occupants of the Audi and the BMW were not injured.

Road closures were put in place whilst emergency services were in attendance.


Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles prior to the incident. If you have any information, please call PC Stu Collins on 101, quoting incident number 681 of 9 March 2018.
