A WEBHEATH singer is one step closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming a pop star after warming up the crowd for Gary Barlow.

Unsigned artist Lucy May Walker played on the Forum Live Stage at the LG Arena on Saturday (April 19) where 16,000 fans flooded to see the Take That star.

The 22-year-old was picked for the half hour slot along with another up and coming singer, after being talent spotted while performing at a gig at the NEC.

The stage was in the main foyer of the Birmingham concert venue where fans were able to buy drinks and watch the acts before seeing the former X Factor judge on the main stage later that night.

Miss Walker, who performed a variety of originals and covers in her acoustic folk- pop style, said: “I thought people would just walk past me but there were lots of seats set-up around the stage.

“People were already sitting and crowding round the stage in the hour before I got on, it was brilliant.

“It is nice to know someone is coming to me rather than having to beg them. It is a hard industry and I do work really hard, so its nice to see it paying off.”

She also received a free VIP ticket so she could watch the concert herself and will be performing at AudioFest in Wales later this year.

“I wouldn’t say I was really a fan at first, but then I knew most of the songs and after seeing him I’m definitely a fan now.”
