Shotokan karate club opens doors to the Redditch community

Redditch Editorial 2nd Sep, 2018   0

FURI Sutairu Shotokan Karate has recently opened its doors to the Redditch community.

The shotokan karate club now hosts a 90-minute lesson every Tuesday at 6pm at Mappleborough Green CE Primary School.

Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate club has another club based in Wythall and Hollywood which has found great success over the years, with titles won across the UK including kumite, kata, weapons and team kata gold medals.

Furi Sutairu owes its success to head instructor, Sensei David Treadwell, who has 34 years’ experience in shotokan karate.

Sensei Treadwell will host the training sessions every Tuesday and welcomes adults and children from aged four upwards.

He trained under the guidance of many karate legends as he was growing up and throughout his competitive career Sensei Treadwell went on to win many UK and European titles.

He represented England at the height of his career and now holds the rank of 5th Dan.

Over the last few years Sensei Treadwell has focused on nurturing the next generation at his Furi Sutairu Shotokan Karate (FSK) Wythall and Hollywood club.

The FSK headquarters has successfully produced and nurtured champions at both adult, cadet and junior levels and now FSK is bringing its winning ways to the Redditch in the hope of finding fresh new talent.
