A NEW multi-billion pound deal for Britain will be crucial in rebuilding Redditch, according to the town’s MP Rachel Maclean.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out an economic strategy which included £1.5billion for hospital maintenance.

He said he would modernise the mental health estate, accelerate new hospital building projects and expand A&E capacity.

Following the PM’s announcement Mrs Maclean said: “I am thrilled to hear the ambition in the Government’s plan.

“This new deal will be critical for our plans to revitalise and rebuild Redditch with support of central government investment.

“I will be ensuring that our Alexandra Hospital benefits from this investment – and by that I mean returning services.

“As Redditch is one of the town’s awarded a deal of up to £25 million from the Towns Fund, we will see an immediate investment in our town this year.”

The PM also promised to spend more than £280million on the criminal justice system, £900million for a range of local growth projects and over £1 billion to fund the first 50 projects of a new, ten-year school rebuilding programme, starting from 2020-21.
