Motorcyclist flown to QE after suffering multiple injuries in Astwood Lane crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered ‘multiple serious injuries’ following a collision with another vehicle in Astwood Lane, Astwood Bank earlier today.

The West Midlands Air Ambulance was scrambled at 2.15pm this afternoon (Tuesday, November 14) and quickly flew to the scene.

Police, in up to half a dozen squad cars, meanwhile had cordoned off the area and closed the road.

The crash is believed to occurred between the sharp left hand turn at the foot of the hill, between the right hand Crofts Lane turning and the left hand turning to Dark Lane and outside Astwood Business Centre.




A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “It was apparent to ambulance staff that the motorcyclist, a man, had suffered multiple serious injuries in the collision when they arrived on scene.

“Ambulance staff worked quickly to administer treatment to him. The doctor administered advanced pain relief to the man to help stabilise his condition whilst the team worked to fully immobilise him and tend to his injuries.


“The man was then airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further trauma care.”

A police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Astwood Lane at 2.18pm today.

“The collision involved a red Honda motorcycle and a black Seat, with the man riding the motorbike being air lifted to the QE Hospital in Birmingham with what are thought to be life threatening injuries.

“The driver of the Seat, a man in his 50s, is not believed to have been seriously injured.

“Road closures are currently in place at the Feckenham end and the junction with Red Hill. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 442s of 14 November.”
