A THIEF has been filmed stealing camera doorbells from properties on Evesham Road and in the Oakenshaw area.

Several homeowners have contacted the Standard and the police in October about the thefts which are believed to have been committed by the same man.

The man appears to be around five foot eleven in height, with short dark hair, and is sometimes wearing a face covering.

An elderly couple on Mickleton close reported their doorbell being stolen just this morning.

And in the latest shocking footage seen by the Standard (below), the suspect can be seen ripping off a doorbell from another property on Evesham Road.

Elizabeth Berry, who lives near the Co-op, filmed the man taking off her doorbell on October 15.

She told the Standard today: “My Nest doorbell got ripped off my wall before I went to work at 6.30am.

“The man, who wasn’t wearing a mask this time, needs to be stopped.”

It follows on from a string of incidents in September and October where these £100-£229 camera doorbells, usually Ring or Nest, have been stolen.

The expensive devices feature built-in microphones and speakers so that people can remotely speak to anyone who arrives at their property.

Ken Aston, also an Evesham Road resident, said: “Mine was taken on September 23 at 4.30am.

“The police thought the man was taking the doorbell off the front of our house so that he could come back later and steal the cars off our drive.

“They have been fantastic with us, particularly PC Merry, who has been patrolling the area at night.”

Mr Aston added that the best advice he can give to Ring doorbell owners is to avoid deregistering them once they have been stolen.

“If you don’t they become worthless and the person stealing them won’t be able to sell them on,” he said.

On September 24 a man, who has a striking resemblance to the thief seen in all of the videos, was filmed ripping off a doorbell with a tool at a property on Paddock Lane – but this time wearing a face covering.

The owner of the property said: “He also checked our door handle. By the time I got downstairs to the open the door, the camera bell was already removed.

“He took the whole casing with him so I doubt he left any fingerprints.

“Honestly I would recognise those eyes if I see him again.”

The man was caught on film with a tool in September.
