Winner of Redditch police face covering competition revealed

THE winner of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Teams’ face covering competition has been revealed as Matchborough First School pupil, Konor Nyiro.

Konor was joined by hundreds of other school children in Redditch who put pen to paper hoping their design would be chosen.

Unfortunately, Konor was unable to attend school on Monday when his winning design was revealed in a school ceremony.

But second-place winner, Maddison Briney, aged nine, had her picture taken with her eye-catching attempt.

Both designs will now be produced by printing company Minuteman Press for officers to wear.

Inspector Lee Page said: “The idea for the competition came from PCSO Bosco-Woods, who thought it would be a great opportunity to help normalise the wearing of face coverings for children and to build relationships between police and young people.

“I chose the winners because of the messages they conveyed, highlighting the importance of community, friendship and kindness which have all been crucial in helping everyone to get through what has been an incredibly difficult year.

“I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank everyone who took part; we were overwhelmed the level of interest.”
