LIGHTS, action, music! Alcester and Stratford District Round Table are back on the road again after a generous donor stepped in to replace their Santa’s sleigh generator last week.
The generator, which powers the lights and festive jingles as the Tablers go around the district collecting for good causes, had been stolen after being taken to a members home to be serviced.
However following an appeal – which we featured on www.redditchstandard.co.uk – Alan and Ruth Lowe of Mereside Farm Childrens Nursery in Shirley stepped in to buy a brand new, silent running replacement for the big hearted Tablers.
Their spokesman Paul Jackson said: “Alan is the brother of one of our members and what he has done is really generous; it means the generator will be in situ for Friday so we can take the Boy Bishop for the St Nicholas Night celebrations in Alcester.”
The generator was supplied by Sims of Stratford, who also gave the Tablers a discount while £100 donated by Sibcas in Studley and £60 from members of the public will be ringfenced to service it in the future.
Meanwhile the Tablers are on the cusp of launching their sleigh runs around the district.
Their chairman Matt Payne said: “We can’t wait to bring Santa to the streets of our area and love to see the reactions of everyone as we pass.”
For the Studley routes Redditch Ladies Circle will once again be lending a hand.
